Cheserek season is over with minor back injury

Edward Cheserek's decorated college track and field career has come to an end because of a minor back injury, according to a report by the Register-Guard's Chris Hansen.

The University of Oregon senior has won an astonishing 17 NCAA championships in cross country, indoor track and outdoor track. Oregon release details all 17 victories

"As much as Edward would like to run, it is our responsibility to make decisions ... in the best interest of our student-athletes," Oregon head coach Robert Johnson told Hansen. 

Cheserek was scheduled to compete later this week in the 5,000 and 10,000 at the NCAA West Regional prelims.
